Few things are as tasty as fresh corn on the cob, quickly boiled, grilled or roasted, served hot and slathered in butter, and sprinkled with salt. Boiling is a traditional way to cook corn on the cob. First, use a pan or a pot that is wide and deep enough for two ears of corn. Now, fill the pan or the pot with enough water that covers the corn and bring it to a boil: Husk the corn and the silk. Soon, dissolve one tablespoon of salt in the water and add the corn. Cook for three to five minutes, if your corn is fresh. In case your corn is a few days old, then you may want to cook it for six to eight minutes or until it’s soft and tender. Lastly, smear the corn with three tablespoons of butter and sprinkle it with pepper and salt to taste.
First, husk the corn and remove all the silk. Wash the corn to remove any dirt or other foreign materials. Now, take a large aluminum foil and coat it with three tablespoons of unsalted butter. Now, wrap the foil all around the corn. Grill it for around 10-12 minutes. You can brush it with more butter, salt, or pepper if you want before serving.
If boiling or grilling corn seems too messy for you, you can use your microwave oven to prepare your corn on the cob. Leave the husk on the corn and microwave two of them at the same time for 4-6 minutes. Take them out and let them cool. Now, remove the shell and the silk from corn. This is another simple way to cook corn on the cob. First, preheat your oven to 350ºF or 175ºC. Put two ears of corn directly on the oven grill. Allow the corn to roast for around 25 minutes or until they are soft and tender. Take the corn out of the oven, let it cool down, and then remove the husk and the silk. Now, season the corn. Slather both corn husks with three tablespoons of unsalted butter. Sprinkle pepper and salt for better taste.
